An array of devices and zones

A zone in is an organizational structure inside of environments.

Zones may group devices by physical use or location. For example, the zone “ConferenceRoom” may represent a room and all its devices, while another zone inside of “ConferenceRoom”, such as “Lighting”, may encompass all the lights in that room.

Zone Items

A zone can contain references to:

Zones may be issued commands that will then be executed by all applicable devices contained within it. If a zone's service property is updated, the service properties of all devices that share that service property will be similarly updated.

Zones can store custom metadata in their records. Metadata is any superfluous data that enhances the operation of the zone. Icons, sorting metrics, and qualitative identification information are all examples of metadata.

In order to ease referencing, zones can be aliased.
